Wow.. just saw Heather for 5 days in a row! That's never happened before! We weren't together for the entirety of the 5 days, mind you, but at some point in each of 5 consecutive days, we were together, and that's pretty remarkable. :) So I'll recap.

I was off of work Tuesday and Wednesday, and Heather and I were hoping she'd have time for me to come spend one of those nights with her. But then she said that was out because she was just overwhelmed (as she usually is these days) with homework. But I offered to just come over for dinner, to give her a break from homework, and she agreed to that. So I went over there and we had dinner, and then went out to get some ice cream to bring back, since she wasn't quite ready to bury herself in homework again. Then we got back and spent a while working on homework together (her doing her graduate physics work, me trying to bring myself to remember even basic Calculus, long lost since I got out of college..), and she felt fairly well caught-up, so I ended up staying the night. So I saw her Thursday morning as well, of course, though just for a bit before she had to get to class. And then I came home and went to work.

Friday I was off as well, and we'd already planned to get together over the weekend--I had to work Saturday morning, but the rest was free. So she came over around 6:30, and after going to the grocery store to pick up something to cook for dinner, we just stayed in and watched the all-star fundraiser on tv. Then I read her some Zen bedtime stories, and we went to sleep. Saturday I had to get up early and go to work, but she needed to do some more homework, of course, so that was good. I'd planned on slipping out of work at 4, but I actually ended up leaving at 2:30 or so, which was a nice surprise! So I came back here and she was again at a good stopping point, so we headed out to do a little shopping and exploring, subs for dinner, and then we hit a little street festival downtown and caught a little bit of a blues band, which was cool. And then home again, where we watched some of the Miss America pageant, which was interesting. And bed again.

Woke up very nicely this morning, ready to start a full day. We'd planned on taking a drive up to Louisville, to check out the Six Flags park there for a bit, and then either check out Louisville some more, or hit Mammoth Cave on the way back. But when I looked this morning, I was dismayed to discover that I only got one free ticket to Six Flags--I'd been sure I was supposed to get 2! So, seeing as how we didn't really plan on staying all that long at the park, it wasn't worth it to us to go if we couldn't both get in for free. So that idea was pretty well abandoned, and we decided to just set out to the north with Mammoth Cave as one fairly certain destination in mind, and see what else caught our eye. So that's what we did, and we had a very nice day, if not as full as we'd originally expected. We left around 9, and made note of a few possibilities between here and Mammoth Cave--but we decided to check out Mammoth Cave first, and then see how much time and energy we had left when we were satisfied there.

Oddly, we didn't even go into the cave, really! We were hoping that there were at least a few caves that were open for independent exploration, but the only way in we found was locked up except for ranger-guided tours, which of course aren't free. And a lot of them were already booked up anyway, so we just decided to explore aboveground a bit, and come back with more thorough plans (and better attire--I only had a t-shirt, and even the cave entrance felt like a refrigerator!) some other time--maybe even the weekend I have coming up. So we walked a few miles of trails, saw some neat stuff, and I snapped random pictures (including one of a really neat hairy caterpillar, but I tried to get it too close and it wasn't in focus). After leaving there, we headed a bit further north, to Abraham Lincoln's birthplace, which is a cool little park. Also drove over to his boyhood home a few miles up the road, but that one wasn't nearly as cool. And by then we were pretty well walked- and driven-out, so we headed back to town. Had a little bite to eat, checked out how well the pics I took came out, and then it was about time for her to head back. But she'd had a flat tire a few days ago, and it was getting low again, so I decided to go ahead and change it for her so she doesn't have to worry about it going flat before she can get it fixed. Hadn't been able to find any obvious punctures, so it might be a bad stem valve. Either way, I felt like a good boyfriend for that. :)

I'm really happy to have Heather, and getting happier all the time. It's been about 2 months since we met, and we've been officially dating or boyfriend/girlfriend for most of that time. I asked her if she's happy to have a boyfriend, and she said, "Not really that.. but I'm happy to have you." And that's how I feel about her, too, so I think things are going well. :)

Anyway, I reckon I'm gonna go vegetate in the living room for a bit before I turn in for tonight. Work in the morning. And the next day I'll be officially old. Ack.
