It is just getting too hot too soon around here. We went to the Central Florida Fair this morning and didn't stay long at all. Partly because it's not a very good fair, and mostly because even at 10:30am it was already starting to swelter. Riciculous! I guess it's not a bad fair if you like fairs, really, but I guess we're just not into that stuff so much. The rides I never go on, since they usually look either silly or scary and I can go to the theme parks when I need a ride fix. The midway games I don't like, and even less do I like the hawkers who run them. The petting zoo/exotic animals we like, but it always makes me feel so bad for those poor creatures--at least at the zoo or Animal Kingdom the animals are well cared for and have a decent habitat. The agricultural stuff like livestock is probably our favorite part, but since the fair is in the middle of Orlando there isn't a whole lot of that. We went to a tiny little fair in Seguin, Texas, and that was great because there's not much around there *but* farmland. And they had a pet contest for the kids, which was great, and a fiddling competition.. that's what a fair should be. In the middle of a city like this a fair becomes just about raking in money more than anything. Bah!
Anyway. Last night we met Holly out at Downtown Disney for a walkabout, and that was fun, aside from the fact that it was crazy crowded. I guess we should have expected that on a Friday night!
Work this week went well, though I didn't accomplish as much as I'd hoped to. At least I didn't get a *whole* lot added to my plate, since my boss is on vacation. Gotta buckle down next week, get lots done. I just really hope the server problem I was working on yesterday got resolved before the end of the day.
Munchkin's napping, so I guess I'll poke around online a bit more before we figure out what we're doing this afternoon. We could go to Disney this weekend, and probably will--it's just so HOT! I shouldn't even say that since it will only get worse. Ah well. Maybe this afternoon we'll go driving around to look at neighborhoods or something. Every few months we get the notion that maybe we can afford a house, especially since my boss told me he's trying to get me a raise. And the market for houses seems to be cooling off, as long as we're not looking in the downtown area. But a day or two of looking online and/or driving around will put the kibosh on the idea again. :)
