Why am I so bad with updating this thing lately? Sheesh.

Weekend was good.. since the weather was so nice, and probably for the last time before it just gets all hot all the time for a while, we decided to make it a Disney weekend. Friday night and Saturday morning we went to MGM, which was fun. It really wasn't crowded, so I rode my favorites and we did some more stuff too, and enjoyed walking around. After that we did lunch and a little shopping in Kissimmee, and then walked around in the woods a little. We were looking for the Disney/Nature Conservancy park, which kept eluding us. So we ended up out in the middle of nowhere and took a short walk at a hiking trail we came across. On the way back to civilization, we *finally* found the Disney one, and checked it out. Very impressive--just driving in we saw more wildlife than we usually see at most parks. There was a hawk on a sign, wild turkeys roaming around, a bald eagle sitting up in the trees, a meadowlark hanging out by the side of the road.. good stuff! The walking trail itself was nice, but the only critter we saw was a deer bounding away in the high grass. But there was also a boardwalk through the woods and to Lake Russell (if I recall correctly), and out there were a pair of ospreys circling, which was cool. And the breeze off the lake was wonderful, so we hung out there for a little bit before heading home.

Sunday we headed to the Magic Kingdom in the morning, and that was pretty good. It seems to *always* be crowded at that park these days, but we managed to go on some stuff before it got too crazy. We did the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, which I literally hadn't been on since I was a kid--we all enjoyed that, Hermione included, so we'll have to make that a regular ride. :) There was no line at all when we got on, and by the time we got off there was a pretty long queue. That one must stack up quickly! Anyway, Heather had woken up not feeling great, so we didn't stay long before she felt like going home and taking it easy, which we did for the rest of the day. Not a bad weekend!

Then back to work, of course. My boss returned from vacation yesterday, and his welcome-back present was a massive network outage caused (ironically) by a faulty UPS in the network operations center. Uninterruptable, eh? Sure, until it shorts out and blows all the breakers. So all the phones and computers went down for most of an hour, even in the call centers. Bah. Spent a lot of the morning still dealing with effects from all that.

Anyway, what else is going on? I guess I should go on record with the prediction that we will have invaded Iran by the end of the year. Maybe the end of the month, who knows? Is there no hope of impeaching Bush before that happens? Of course, the second in line is Cheney, who is worse.. but maybe he can drop dead of a heart attack or get indicted for something? Pretty please? Anybody see the picture of Cheney sleeping during a meeting recently? This administration doesn't bother pretending to be honest or honorable or intelligent anymore, but can't they at least bother pretending to stay awake? I saw a bumper sticker the other day that had the date in 2009 when Bush's successor will take office, and beneath that it said "Hang In There, America!" I'd like to think that will indeed be a magical day. But I'm cynical enough to believe that even if Bush's successor is cut from different cloth, the precedents set by this administration when it comes to abusing power, favoring injustice, lying and lying some more and lying about lying even after the lies are obvious and finally not even bothering to lie anymore... I don't really see the next President gaining office and saying geez, the Executive branch has way too much darn power these days, better strip myself of some of that! Suuuure. Plus Bush's appointments to the Supreme Court will be there for quite a while. Ah well, what the hey. We'll invade Iran and that will go badly, and eventually China will come take us over anyway. If we survive the bird flu pandemic, that is. Not to mention the insanity and rioting and widespread violence that will occur once our affordable supply of petroleum finally dries up. It's truly a wonderful time to be alive.

Okay, enough doomsaying and cynicism; it's 11:11 and I'll wish that things will turn around and more wise and rational, and less selfish and short-sighted heads will eventually prevail. Now I'd better get some lunch before my 11:30 meeting!
