Your band sucks.
Dec. 29th, 2006 11:33 amBlender's 50 Worst Musical Artists Ever.
I despise articles like this, and not just because they always contain at least one artist I happen to respect. It's MUSIC. There is no worst or best in music, unless you're a dolt. I tend to completely ignore people who insist that a certain artist or even genre of music "sucks", because what they're really saying (yet are too dumb to understand) is that they don't like that artist or genre. And that's completely fine--I'm hardly going to say that there are no artists I can't much stand listening to--what I ask is that they realize what they're really trying to say, and say that. Because for every artist that I can't personally stand, I'm sure there are at least a few adoring fans for whom that artist represents everything good about music. That's why music (and art in general) is so amazing--there's no formula to it, no secret combination of rhythms and tones that guarantee that everyone in the world will like it. If that were so, every band would sound like the Bee Gees, right? :)
Anyway, articles like this are actually a fun read, but aside from that they're total crap. Just wanted to go on record with that.
The Doors suck? THE DOORS? Sheesh. As far as I'm concerned, if you're still making lists--best, worst, or otherwise--40 years after your first record and 35 years after your lead singer died in a Paris bathtub, you must have done something right. And I for one find it quite interesting that Manowar was voted higher than the Beatles and Michael Jackson by Russian youth in 1993. Disturbing, yes. But interesting. :)
