Bogart was definitely before your time--and mine too, for that matter, the 1940s being his real heyday--but he's still one of the best. Casablanca? The Maltese Falcon? The Treasure of the Sierra Madre? All classics! And The Big Sleep, in which he played Phillip Marlowe, the character speaking in the chapter I posted here. If you can YouTube, this is a good clip:
