She really loves making the vintage-style stuff, and it seems to be a nice niche she's found business-wise--really she could stay as busy as she wants, seems like as soon as she posts anything someone places an order! For a while she was doing well with costume dresses, things like Annie and Alice in Wonderland, but she got tired of making those since they were all the same, and she really prefers to design her own anyway. So now she basically makes whatever she feels like and then sells it (unless she's making it for one of the girls), though she does the occasional special request too. She is indeed very good! The stuff she does with gathers and hand-smocking is really pretty, and I think a fairly lost art these days:



I've gotten more into the habit of using the AF point markers in my viewfinder to line up with lines, whether it's getting something centered or properly vertical or horizontal, but then I also always make it a point to level horizons in Lightroom, which is really easy. But the little strip of sky between the water and the pier was definitely a happy accident in that shot, it makes for a nice separation, somehow.
