Have Some Photos.

Spring is sprung! And pretty much over already, in these parts. The high today is 90F, though (thankfully) we seem to be going down a few degrees after this. Anyway, the butterfly above was a new sighting for me--a Dainty sulphur (Nathalis iole) spotted down by our neighborhood lake. Not shy at all, either--I was shooting with my 24mm pancake lens, which means I was maybe 10 inches away from the critter for that shot. Nice of him/her to cooperate!

Last weekend we went to Trimble Park near Mount Dora--we'd been there a number of times before, but it had been a while. And this time we checked out a whole section of the park we didn't even know existed!

Like this nature trail, which turned out to be very nice.

We came across several batches of these, Eastern lubber grasshopper nymphs. They grow up into huge yellow grasshoppers, 3 inches long or so.

The girls are all big fans of playing with bugs.

Some were red instead of black--not sure if that means they're younger, or just molted.

This was a nice spot, a little lakefront promontory called The Point.

Then we came across a nice boardwalk, we love those!

Meanwhile, back in my butterfly garden things are starting to happen. My giant milkweed is blooming, pretty neat.

More grasshoppers down by the neighborhood lake.

Orange-barred sulphur caterpillar on my cassia.

And eggs mean more to come!

The usual Gulf fritillary and Zebra longwings are starting to appear. This one's already big!

And a couple of Red admiral males were chasing each other around. They're territorial so they'll chase off intruders. This one was giving me the stinkeye for sure. :)
Okay, enough for now. What will the weekend bring? We shall see!
