This is a crazy story. 37-year-old woman and her husband have 2 daughters, but the husband wants more. Clock is ticking at her age, so they undergo fertility treatments and in-vitro fertilization and crank out a set of triplets. Here we are three years later and she gives birth again--to quadruplets! No drugs this time, and it actually sounded like the pregnancy was accidental. Sheesh, quite an accident to bring you from 5 to 9 kids in one shot. But the *real* kicker? The whole family--2 adults and (when the quads get out of the hospital) 9 children--live in a 1-bedroom apartment. That kinda tells me that even the first 2 kids were more than these people were equipped to handle, and now they have 9. Fabulous. But what the heck, I'm sure the charity will start rolling in if the media gives their story enough play.

Went to Islands of Adventure after work last night--it was too warm and too muggy, but just a little, so it wasn't too bad. Their carousel is rather faster than the one at the Magic Kingdom, but munchkin is getting more used to it. She also enjoyed the Cat In the Hat ride even though we couldn't get them to disable the spinning. She actually seemed to like that since it reminded her of the teacups. :) We were going to take her on the new High-In-the-Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride too, but that actually has a height requirement! 34 inches, and she's only 32. Ah well, won't be long before she adds the 2 inches. :)

Speaking of munchkin, she (and Heather, of course) are coming to have lunch with me today. I'm glad we're getting back into that habit. Better get back to work so I don't feel guilty to leave the office for lunch!

How did they afford the in-vitro with the triplets?

Yep, I wondered that myself. The story says the husband is a carpet installer, and somehow I can't imagine the mother is anything but a stay-at-home mom. Maybe carpet installers have excellent insurance? :)

"...34 inches, and she's only 32."

Let an old pro tell you how to fake 2 measely inches.
Hat.
Yes, a lovely little hat, slightly packed with napkins.
And in the winter, boots.
Combine the 2 and you can have her on The Hulk by October!
LOL LOL LOL

Heh, we'll have to keep that in mind! Luckily she's not *quite* old enough to know what she's missing if she doesn't go on a ride, so she wasn't at all disappointed (or even aware!) about not being able to ride. She's enjoyed everything we've taken her on so far, though, so I do hope she grows up liking coasters and other thrill rides a lot more than her Mom does! :)

Yeah, as soon as The Child saw Star Tours, that was it, we had to fake the inch or 2. Can you imagine how that looks to a little kid? LOL If you don't yet, you will!
The child also mastered the art of standing partially on his toes, sort of a heel-lift manuever that got him on Dinosaur and Test Track. But he was much older than your Munchkin.
