I have sick girls. Munchkin woke up from a nap yesterday afternoon with a low-grade fever, which we've been keeping down with children's Tylenol. She slept in this morning and seems better--odd that the only real symptom was a little fever, other than that she's seemed okay, if a little more cranky than usual. Meanwhile, Heather's starting up with the morning sickness, which for her is more like all-day sickness. So far it hasn't seemed too bad, she just hasn't had an appetite for certain things. Hopefully it won't get much worse than this!

The weekend looks pretty boring, since we're not sure if munchkin's sick and Heather doesn't feel too good. This morning we did go out to a park not far from here, for a little walk and playground time for munchkin. After that we went to lunch (Firehouse Subs, mmm), then to Office Depot to try to score a free pack of CD-R's (out of stock already, oh well), and then Goodwill (a thrift store, for those who might not know) for a quick look around. In Goodwill there was an interesting character--a guy who was going around generally being obnoxious, cracking bad jokes and spouting his life story. Apparently he'd just gotten out of prison after a 5-year stretch for armed drug trafficking. Doesn't seem like the sort of thing I'd announce to a store full of strangers, y'know? He said he'd had a stash of money that "the sheriff's department didn't find," which is what brought him on this madcap shopping spree at the thrift store. And unless I heard him wrong (unlikely--he was the sort of guy lacking much in the way of a volume control) he said he was the father of five sets of twins plus four 'singles'. That's FOURTEEN children. Let's hope the fact that their father has been behind bars means that they won't follow in his footsteps. Or maybe he was making everything up--I'd almost hope for that!

Okay, time to.. um, do something else. Hope everyone is having a good weekend out there!

People are so obnoxious...

Just a little word of unsolicited advice regarding fevers: if they're not super-high, don't bother with the tylenol. It's just making things worse. The fever is the body's defense system, making the body an undesireable host for whatever little bug is invading it, and by "controlling" the fever, or bringing it down, you're just allowing the bugs more time in the body, generally making the sickness last longer.
Just fyi. :)

I bet they want to be just like their Dad when they grow up. It's like a screwed up version of the Duggers... and I love the Duggers (http://www.jimbob.info/).

That seems like a really neat family to me. Sure, their choices in swimwear are a little... strange, but to be living in complete financial freedom (ie- NOT relying on the government or baby-mommas to support your 14 children) and successfully manage a family of that size? It's really admirable.

I'm fascinated by this family. You should see the TLC specials, it's amazing. They built most of thier house togather as a family...then TLC finished it for them. I couldn't do it, that's for sure.

No kidding! My two little ones drive me crazy enough, I couln't imagine 14!!!
I have a lot of respect for parents who can inspire family togetherness like that.

Ugh.. I mean, I appreciate the fact that the Duggars seem to have their household well put together, and everyone is taken care of, and they're self-sufficient and all that. At least the father didn't just spend 5 years in prison for armed drug trafficking! But still, no matter who the parents are, it just seems to me so presumptuous to think that having 14 kids (or however many they're up to these days) is a good idea, let alone the Will Of God and all that rot. As long as they're making it work, more power to them, but I'll still think they're a couple of overzealous religious nutcases looking to breed their own cult. :)

The Duggers have 16 at last count. And as much as current social conventions would dictate our judgement on them for hell, just overpopulating alone, it's a spectacle and incredible in logistics alone. I myself would never go through labor 14 times (2 sets of twins), but if I could, and I wanted to remain at home or had a house husband, I'd definately adopt as many kids as I could handle...one of the specials showed a convention for families with more than 10 kids...it was kinda distgusting to me, but fascinating at the same time.

Besides, the kids aren't unhappy, and they aren't simply bred for manual labor or a government paycheck. The only real issue I can see is the fact all the kids have names that start with J...
